Metal3 brings bare metal into Kubernetes. Physical servers become BareMetalHost resources, provisioned by Ironic under the hood and managed through the same declarative API as everything else in your cluster. Combined with Cluster API, you can build and upgrade Kubernetes clusters directly on hardware — no hypervisor in the way.
How we approach it
Bare metal is where software meets the messiness of real hardware: BMC quirks, firmware versions, boot networks and the one server model that never behaves. We start with your fleet and your network, design the provisioning path around them, and contribute fixes back to Metal3 and Ironic when we find gaps.
